    CEO of Old Mutual SA and Emerging Markets

    An engineer by training, (B.Sc. Eng Hons.), Ralph obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cape Town in 2000. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s GMP programme, and has also attended executive programmes at London Business School and INSEAD.

    Ralph joined Old Mutual in 2001 in Old Mutual’s Individual Life business. In 2004 he was promoted to Managing Director of Old Mutual Unit Trusts. In 2006 he became the group’s Strategy Director and led the development of several new businesses within OMSA as Director of New Ventures. A key new business that Ralph led was setting up the South African based lending business Old Mutual Finance – focused on lending solutions to mass market customers. In 2008, Ralph was then appointed as the Managing Director - Retail to drive the growth of Old Mutual in the affluent segment which includes the distribution of its solutions through the tied adviser force, broker networks, independent and bank channels.

    Ralph is a director of the main Emerging Markets board – OMLACSA. He also serves on various subsidiary boards. Outside of Old Mutual he is a board member of the University of Cape Town (Graduate School of Business) Advisory. He is also involved in a school in South Africa that’s focused on developing math and science competence for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.

    Rose started her career at Old Mutual in Information Technology in 1980 and later transferred to Group Schemes during the merger with Colonial Mutual. She was then seconded to Old Mutual International (OMI) in the United Kingdom during 1997, where she progressed to Joint Managing Director of OMI.

    Rose returned to South Africa and was responsible for the launch of the Masthead distribution business in 2004. She then joined OMSTA (Old Mutual Service Technology and Administration) to drive the transformation of service and operational processes using Lean methodology. In August 2006, she was appointed as Managing Director of OMSTA, responsible for leading the Service, Technology and Administration businesses of Old Mutual South Africa.

    By achieving consistent improvements in customer service and unit costs using Lean, OMSTA has been recognised as a capability that can be leveraged more broadly by OMEM and LTS. Therefore as Director LTS: Client Service and Administration, Rose is now also responsible for driving the focus on customer service and efficiency across the Emerging Markets (OMEM) businesses in Africa and Latin America as well as the LTS businesses in UK, Europe and Isle of Man.

    Rose was born in Cape Town and obtained a B.Sc and B.Com (Honours) from the University of Cape Town. Her personal interests include travel, sport and current affairs.

    Diane joined Old Mutual as Group Finance Director in March 2008 after fulfilling the position of Chief Financial Officer at Altron. Prior to Altron, Radley was Partner in Charge of Transaction Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has also served as a non-executive director and chairperson of the audit committee at Women Investment Portfolio Holdings Limited (Wiphold).

    She is currently a non executive director and chairperson of the audit committee of Omnia Holdings Limited.

His key responsibilities include building an effective Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs function across the emerging markets businesses, as well as planning, directing and implementing a brand strategy that is aligned with that of the Old Mutual Group and its Long-Term Savings division.more info...

    Mohale gained his solid experience in senior positions at Herdbuoys McCann-Erickson, Jupiter Drawing Room, TBWA SA, Liberty Holdings and ABSA Limited. He has worked on some of the country’s most established and prestigious brands, including SAB, SA Tourism, MTN and ABSA.

    In his most recent role as Managing Executive at ABSA Private Bank he was responsible for the development of a strategy to micro-segment the business’s view of the market and deliver segment-specific customer propositions. Ralebitso holds qualifications from Queens College New York and the University of Cape Town and has attended the Harvard Business School/WITS Executive Education Programme.

    Katie has been at Old Mutual for eight years and was Director of Finance: Group Chief Accountant at Old Mutual Plc in London from 2006. In her previous role, Katie was responsible for Old Mutual’s internal and external reporting, business planning and the sponsorship of the group-wide finance controls initiative. She is currently a member of the iCRaFT (Integrated Capital, Risk and Financial Transformation) programme’s steering committee.

    Prior to 2006, Katie led the International Accounting Standards conversion project, was involved in the financial integration of Skandia into the Old Mutual Group and was seconded to Nedbank during its rights issue. Before joining Old Mutual, she spent 10 years at KPMG Consulting, where she advised global clients on finance transformation. Katie is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

    Old Mutual develops its leadership capability and effectiveness to operate in an international context and preparing a core segment of employees to be internationally mobile. Core to the development of the employees is the focus on a customer centric culture. Her prior experience includes a position as Executive Vice President of Global Passenger Services, Product and Customer Services at SAA where she spent 15 years.

    Prior to this she held senior leadership roles at Spoornet, Portnet, Indigo Air (New Delhi, India) and Woolworths, a career that spanned some 25 years in industry. Archary holds a degree in education and a masters degree in psychology. She has held many board positions, among them the Chair of Cape Town Routes Unlimited, and has served on the boards of Wesgro, Artscape, and the Tourism Grading Council.

    She was awarded the Transnet Exceptional Leaders Award for business acumen and results in 2002.

    Marshall was promoted to MD from the position of Chief Executive Officer of Group Schemes. He was appointed to the Mexico board of New Markets in March 2010. Marshall joined Group Schemes in 1977 as an Advisor in Umtata. In 1987 he was appointed Area Manager, then quickly moved through the ranks as Regional Manager Border and Transkei then Provincial Manager for the Eastern Cape in 1990.

    In 1995 he became Divisional Manager in charge of the Eastern and Western Cape as well as the National Scheme Development Team. Two years later he was given the responsibility of running the national sales force and marketing division and in 2000 Marshal was appointed General Manager – Group Schemes Sales and Marketing.

    Marshall was born in the Eastern Cape. After completing high school in King Williamstown, Marshall obtained a Bachelor of Administration (Economic Sciences) from UNISA.

    In his previous position as Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Namibia, Johannes was responsible for the Life Insurance, Property, Asset Management and Pensions business. Prior to that, he held the position of Chief Executive of Old Mutual Asset Managers Namibia. He joined Old Mutual as Chief Executive of the asset management business in March 1998.

    Johannes holds a B.A. and a Masters of Business Leadership from the University of South Africa, an MA from the Graduate School of Business at Kingston (London) as well as the AMP from Harvard University.

    He joined Old Mutual in 1980, and worked in various roles since then, including Deputy Actuary in 1987, Pensions Actuary in 1988, Regional Manager for Employee Benefits in Johannesburg in 1993 and Assistant General Manager within Employee Benefits in 1996, responsible for direct distribution and EB direct regional offices throughout South Africa, and some of the Administration in Cape Town.

    When Old Mutual decided to demutualise in 1997 Gary worked full time on the demutualisation project until he was appointed Chief Actuary in 1999.

    Crispin is the Chairperson of the Old Mutual Foundation and was the founding Non-Executive Director of Foodbank SA, a company that distributes around a million tons of food per year to the poorer communities in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

    Besides these commitments, Crispin also serves as a non- Executive Director for CapeSpan (Pty) Ltd, Old Mutual Kotak- Mahindra and as a member of the Board of Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town.

    Prior to his current role at Old Mutual Crispin was the Executive General Manager at Old Mutual Personal Financial Advice and Private Wealth business. He served on the Council of the University of Cape Town for 8 years.

    He has been with Old Mutual for 18 years. Iain started his career in Old Mutual in Corporate Segment before moving on to roles in Retail Actuarial Finance, Old Mutual plc Corporate Development, Private Wealth Management, OMSTA IT and back to Retail Finance again. Prior to his current role he was GM Finance for the Retail Affluent business for two years where he was responsible for financial management, business planning, risk management and compliance in Retail Affluent.

    Iain is an actuary, having graduated from UCT in 1992. He attended the General Management Program at Harvard in 2011.
