The Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show is now in its 11th year. Widely regarded as SA's leading premium wine competition - with significant benefits for both wine industry and wine consumer - it brings together teams of international and local tasters with established judging competence. The judging takes place at Grande Roche, Paarl, from 7 to 10 May 2012. An extensive roadshow programme will follow the release of the show's results on 30th May, with Masterclass® tastings in six cities in SA and in Windhoek, Namibia - as well as Public Tastings in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The closure of Wine Magazine - an event partner since the show's inception in 2002 - has led to new media partnerships which will bring the results to fine wine enthusiasts throughout the country. As a result, almost double the number of copies of Icons - the book which reviews the results of the competition in great detail - will be distributed this year. It has also meant the establishment of a new logistics team with proven tasting and show management experience. Alex Mason-Gordon from OutSorceress Marketing, which has co-ordinated the annual Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show Roadshow events since their inception, will manage all wine entry administration, pre-show logistics and communications. As in the past, Michael Crossley will co-ordinate the judging procedures.
