Project Consolidate

Old Mutual and WIPHOLD, one of its black business partners, have partnered with the Department of Provincial and Local Government (DPLG) on an initiative called Project Consolidate, which aims to build capacity towards increasing delivery of key municipal services.

Three work streams were prioritised, namely:

  • Infrastructure and property development, and capacity building.
  • Institutional and administrative transformation (with a strong emphasis on human resource development).
  • Financing for infrastructure towards increasing service delivery.

Project Consolidate encompasses both the capacity and scarce skills building, and property and infrastructure development themes. Old Mutual Investment Group Property Investments (OMIGPI) is assisting the DPLG in investigating and identifying areas that can act as catalysts for economic development opportunities within selected municipalities.

The following municipalities are being assessed: Khayelitsha, uMngeni, Dr JS Moroka, Kokstad, Tsantsabane, Buffalo City, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan, Mafikeng.
