IDEAS Managed Fund
The Infrastructural, Developmental and Environmental Assets Managed Fund (“the IDEAS Managed Fund”) is South Africa’s largest domestic infrastructure equity investor. The fund focuses on infrastructure investments that make a significant contribution to economic growth and/or upliftment within the sub-categories of core infrastructure, environmental infrastructure and social infrastructure. The Fund’s return objective is to achieve a real return of 7% per annum over rolling 3 year periods.
The fund has enjoyed considerable success since its creation in 1998. Investment performance has comfortably exceeded the benchmark and a significant social impact has been achieved. The IDEAS Managed Fund now enjoys a high quality, diversified portfolio of fixed investment assets in each of the target categories. The IDEAS Managed Fund is a tangible example of the ability of institutional investors to both address the social imperatives of development whilst maintaining strong investment returns.
