OMAC Healthcare Monitor

The most important element of any medical scheme is the members it is designed to serve. Without scheme members, there would be no schemes, which is why it is so important that the private healthcare industry makes every effort to afford medical scheme members the opportunity to voice their opinions, express their concerns and state their desires.

The OMAC Healthcare Monitor is one of the ways in which Old Mutual is striving to do just that. By engaging with medical scheme members and to a lesser degree, with non-members, the research delivers valuable insights into the ways in which medical schemes can overcome their biggest challenge – adding real value to the lives of their clients.

It is our belief that by starting with this end goal in mind and listening carefully to existing and prospective members, any medical scheme will go a long way towards satisfying its members and ensuring its sustainability.

By surveying over 1000 medical scheme members from all walks of life, the 2010 OMAC Healthcare Monitor has provided a solid starting point from which to build such an understanding of member perceptions and needs.
