FSB
The Financial Services Board (FSB) is a unique, independent institution established by law to oversee the South African non-banking financial services industry in the public interest. The FSB’s mission is to promote sound and efficient financial institutions and services together with mechanisms for investor protection in the markets they supervise.
The functions of the board are:
- to supervise the compliance with laws regulating financial institutions and the provision of financial services;
- to advise the Minister on matters concerning financial institutions and financial services, either of its own accord or at the request of the Minister; and
- to promote programmes and initiatives by financial institutions and bodies representing the financial services industry to inform and educate users and potential users of financial products and services.

Pension Funds Adjudicator
The purpose of the Pension Funds Adjudicator is to resolve disputes in a procedurally fair, economical and expeditious manner.
The Adjudicator’s office investigates and determines complaints of abuse of power, maladministration, disputes of fact or law and employer dereliction of duty in respect of pension funds.

SARS
The South African Revenue Service Act 34 of 1997 gives SARS the mandate to:
- collect all revenues that are due;
- ensure maximum compliance with the legislation; and
- provide a customs service that will maximise revenue collection, protect our borders and facilitate trade.
