TERMS & CONDITIONS APPLICABLE FOR CLAIM SUBMISSIONS

For your claim to be successfully submitted, you are required to agree to the terms and conditions that follow below.

CORRECT AND ACCURATE INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION

The assessment of your claim is based on what you provide (from the time that you request a quote). Therefore, you are responsible to provide (and update) correct and accurate information and documentation relating to your insurance cover and claim. Submitting inaccurate information or documentation, may result in the:

  • rejection of your claim, and/or
  • cancellation of your policy, and/or
  • avoidance of your policy (for misrepresentation or non-disclosure of material information).

DISPUTES

Disputes arising from the submission of your claim, which may include but is not limited to the rejection of the claim and/or the cancellation of your policy and/or the avoidance of your policy, must be dealt with directly with Old Mutual Insure only.

All disputes will be handled in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in your policy wording.

REJECTION OF CLAIM AND AVOIDANCE OF POLICY

If your claim is not covered, we will send you a rejection letter to explain the reasons for the rejection and to explain our complaints submission procedure. We will provide you with a similar letter to explain the circumstances if your policy is avoided for misrepresentation or non–disclosure of material information that affects the risks insured under your policy.

COMPLAINTS SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Complaints can be made in writing to Old Mutual Insure and must include all the relevant details. You can email your complaint to complaints@ominsure.co.za or call 0860 634 357 for assistance. We will acknowledge each complaint within one working day of receipt and will work towards resolving it within five working days.

If we cannot resolve the complaint to your satisfaction, you may submit a complaint in writing to the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance at PO Box 32334, Braamfontein, 2017. The Ombudsman can also be contacted on telephone: 0860 OMBUDS (0860 662 837) or (011) 726 8900, fax: (011) 726 5501 and email: info@osti.co.za.

All complaints related to insurance claims must follow the complaints procedure stated in your policy terms and conditions.
