Investment Readiness
Programme

What is the purpose of the Investment Readiness Programme?

The Masisizane Investment Readiness Programme (MIRP) supports ambitious South African SMEs in the Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Logistics and Services sectors on their journey towards sustainable growth by helping them build the capabilities, structures and business fundamentals required to attract funding and investment. Through targeted business development support, the programme addresses common readiness gaps that often prevent promising businesses from accessing growth capital.
What is MIRP?

Masisizane Investment Readiness Programme (MIRP) helps selected SMEs identify and address readiness gaps before they approach funders or investors. Participating businesses receive structured business development support, mentorship, investor-readiness assessments, financial and operational strengthening, governance support, growth planning and specialist advisory services.

The programme is not positioned as a standalone funding product. It is designed to help SMEs strengthen their foundations so they are better prepared to attract, secure and effectively deploy growth capital.

Benefits of participating

Through the programme, participating businesses can work on the areas that typically influence funder and investor confidence, including:

  • Financial management, modelling and forecasting.
  • Governance, compliance and risk-management readiness.
  • Operational strengthening and process improvement.
  • Business strategy, growth planning and market readiness.
  • Investor-ready collateral, including business plans, financial models, investment memoranda, pitch decks and due-diligence documentation.
  • One-on-one mentorship, specialist advisory support and access to business networks.
Who should apply?

The programme is intended for ambitious, growth-stage SMEs operating in Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Logistics or Services. Applicants should be established businesses with demonstrated market traction, a clear growth trajectory and a commitment to strengthening their operational, financial and governance capabilities.

Programme approach

Selected businesses will undergo a structured readiness journey. The core approach should be described as follows:

  • Enterprise onboarding and validation - applicant information and supporting documentation are verified.
  • 360-degree baseline assessment - each business is assessed across financial, commercial, operational, governance, risk, legal and compliance readiness.
  • Gap analysis and growth roadmap - findings are translated into a prioritised roadmap with interventions, milestones, responsibilities and timelines.
  • Investor collateral and data-room preparation - businesses are supported to develop or refine business plans, financial models, investment memoranda, pitch decks and due-diligence documents.
  • Monitoring and investment readiness support - progress is monitored against milestones and KPIs, with ongoing preparation for potential funder or investor engagements.
Important to note

Participation in MIRP does not automatically guarantee funding. The programme is designed to improve investment readiness and support participating businesses in preparing for potential growth funding, but any funding opportunity remains subject to the applicable investment assessment and approval processes.
