Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, large companies were realising they had to operate like their smaller, more agile counterparts to continue to evolve and deliver value to their shareholders. However, the pandemic has accelerated the urgency with which they need to change, argues Prabashini Moodley, Managing Director of Old Mutual Corporate.
‘The economy was struggling even before Covid started, but recent events – unrest, lockdown, the flooding in KwaZulu-Natal symptomatic of the climate crisis – have shown that companies can no longer have a strategy session once every 10 years,’ she says. ‘The business environment is changing fast, with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and new players in different sectors competing for your customers.’
