Protect yourself and your loved ones with both Funeral and Life insurance.
Old Mutual Personal Cover offers you insurance that is flexible, modular, and can be tailor-made to suit your unique needs. To make life simpler, you also have the freedom to make changes as your needs change. Scroll down to learn more about our Life and Funeral insurance offerings.

Funeral insurance can be used towards the actual funeral expenses, like the coffin, tent, food and catering, transport, venue hire, and the tombstone.
Life insurance helps to provide for your loved ones long after the funeral where the money can go towards necessities like education, housing, paying off debt, and living expenses.
What’s the difference?

Our flexible Life insurance changes as your life does. With Old Mutual, you can get up to R3 million life cover even without any medical tests*.
At an extra cost, you can add Premium Protection which allows your cover to continue even if you die, become disabled or impaired, or are retrenched. You can also add the option of paying your premiums only to retirement and still enjoy the cover.

Have peace of mind knowing that your funeral expenses will be taken care of in the unfortunate event of your passing. Old Mutual’s Funeral insurance covers up to 22 family members and an unlimited number of dependent children.
It's flexibility allows you to add on the Double Accidental Benefit which pays double the cover amount if the insured person dies due to an accident. The Funeral Paid-up Benefit, which ensures you no longer pay premiums, continues if you become disabled, turn 64, or die, can all be added at an extra cost.
There’s also the Monthly Grocery and Education Benefit to provide 12 equal monthly installments towards day-to-day expenses.

Get ahead of life when you get both Funeral and Life insurance.
Want to know more about medical tests?
Find out all you need to know here.
Why go for medical tests?
Old Mutual uses medical tests to get you the right amount of cover at the right price and if you are found to be healthy, we could offer you cover at a cheaper premium.
For cover above R3 million medical testing is compulsory so going for medical tests could get you access to higher amounts of cover.
What’s the process for medical tests?
Old Mutual will pay for any medical tests and reports that we’ve asked you to share. You can request to have an Old Mutual travel nurse come to you, or you can use your own nurse/doctor. You will need to pay for your own travelling costs to a pathology lab, nurse or doctor.
In addition to this, we will ask you for information about:
- Past and current medical conditions
- Family’s medical history
- Your lifestyle
- Your finances
What happens after getting a medical test?
When you apply for cover, our aim is to offer you the cover and premium you asked for. If you lead a healthy lifestyle, we could even offer you a lower premium.
If we’re unable to do this, we’ll offer you different terms such as:
- An increased premium to cover any extra risk
- Remove cover for certain illnesses/events
- A lower cover amount
- Another product
If we can’t offer you cover, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
Remember to always be fully transparent when providing the required information at both application and claim stage.
