At The Old Mutual Education Trust we want to ensure that 90% of our scholarship holders complete their studies, with 80% doing so in minimum time. We have two linked outcomes for our students: first, for them to perform well academically and pursue the correct career or course; and secondly, to be emotionally well and adjusted to university life and culture. Support for Outcome 1: Academic Success and Career Alignment
  • Tutoring Support: Delivered in partnership with Excel@Uni to provide targeted academic assistance.
  • Udemy Access: Offered as a tool for academic enrichment and personal development.
  • Academic Development Webinars: Equip students with essential academic skills, including time management, critical thinking, and effective study strategies.
  • Exam Preparation Webinar: Supports students with practical exam strategies and time management techniques to enhance academic performance.
Support for Outcome 2: Emotional Wellbeing and University Integration
  • Peer Buddy Programme: Eases first-year students' transition into university life through peer mentorship and social connection.
  • Dedicated Student Support Practitioners: Provide personalised support to identify risks early and guide students through academic, personal, and emotional challenges.
  • Contracted Psychologist: Provides psychological support to students with limited access to mental health resources.
  • Campus Connect Sessions: Foster a sense of belonging and build student community through meaningful peer engagement.
  • Mental Wellness Webinar: Equips students with tools to manage stress, build emotional resilience, and prioritise mental well-being.
  • Annual Student Connect Camp: A tailored annual camp that fosters connection, belonging, and equips new and final-year students with tools for success, from university transition to workplace readiness.
