Social Engineering

What is it?

Social Engineering takes place when a criminal uses deception to manipulate you into sharing your personal information. This information is then used to access your accounts or complete fraudulent transactions.

Criminals who practice social engineering are often very charismatic and believable. The golden rule to remember is that no bank or financial institution will ever ask you to share your personal or sensitive information via email, internet or phone.

Social Engineering usually takes the form of either Phishing, Vishing or Smishing.
