Why is your credit score important?

Banks, lenders, and retailers use your credit score along with other aspects of your financial history to determine how dependable you are in repaying your debt. If you keep up with repayments and stay well within your credit limit, you’re likely to receive a good score. On the other hand, if you miss repayments and max out your credit card, you can expect a low score.

Lenders will typically look at your current score as well as your credit history – up to several months back when assessing your creditworthiness. What this means is that a poor track record can result in you not qualifying for further credit, whereas a consistently good score can help you secure a home loan, vehicle finance, credit card, or personal loan.
